Federal resume questions, answered.

How long can a federal resume be?

Two pages. OPM has enforced the limit since September 27, 2025, and USAJOBS blocks anything longer. The big exception: VA clinical jobs under Title 38 and Hybrid Title 38 are not held to the limit. A few non-Title-5 or announcement-level carve-outs also allow a longer document through an 'other documents' upload. We read your exact announcement and build to it.

What is the Master Resume?

Your complete career on record, built once and yours to keep and grow. It is separate from the 2-page submission, and we pull from it every time you come back to target a new role.

Do I still write KSA essays or long narratives?

Not at the initial application. Standalone KSA essays are gone from the first step: you apply with your 2-page resume plus an eligibility questionnaire. And since September 30, 2025 that questionnaire can screen you but no longer ranks you. A separate skills assessment does the ranking, and your resume has to back up every answer you give. Some announcements add a scored written assessment later, like a narrative assessment, an accomplishment record, or a writing sample. If yours calls for one, we coach you through it, scoped to exactly what your posting asks.

What are the four essay questions I keep hearing about?

Since 2025, most federal announcements from GS-5 through GS-15 include the same four short essay questions, capped at 200 words each. They're not scored, and skipping them never disqualifies you. You certify that your answers are your own words, so we coach you on structure and examples but never write them for you. It keeps your certification honest and your application safe.

How does SES work now?

SES changed in 2025. The old multi-page ECQ essay packet is gone: you now submit a 2-page resume that demonstrates the current OPM Executive Core Qualifications, then complete a structured interview with the Qualifications Review Board. We build the resume and prepare your interview stories for the board.

Are you compliant with the current rules?

We check the announcement, the GS level, and OPM's current guidance, so every resume is 100% compliant the day it's written. The rules have moved fast since 2025. Tracking them is part of what you're paying for.

I do not know what GS level I qualify for. Where do I even start?

The questionnaire asks things I do not know how to answer. Do you help with that?

Yes, and it is where a lot of good applications quietly die. We go through every eligibility, preference, and conditions-of-employment question against your actual status, and we make sure your resume backs up every answer you give. Those questions sit thirty deep in an application most people fill out alone.

Someone on the hiring side told me to mark myself Expert on everything. Should I?

Only where your resume can prove it. Since September 30, 2025 the questionnaire can screen you, but it cannot rank you. A real skills assessment does the ranking now, and your resume has to substantiate what you claimed. An Expert rating with nothing on the page behind it is the fastest way to get rated not qualified.

Am I eligible for veterans preference? I do not have a disability rating yet.

That turns on facts we need to see, not on a rule of thumb. We check which preferences and eligibilities actually apply to you, what document each one needs, and whether your announcement even asks for it. Then we make sure your answers and your resume tell the same story.

Do you write my essay answers for me?

No, and nobody honest will. You certify those answers are your own words, with no consultant and no AI. That certification is exactly why we will not touch them for you.
